Online Master’s in Education students reflect on their first year in the program

In 2022, HGSE welcomed its first cohort of Online Master's in Education (OEL) education leadership students into a unique and diverse learning community made up of experienced educators working to expand their leadership and deepen their impact in the field. During the immersive On-Campus Institute that summer, OEL students shared their initial impressions and hopes for the future. After a year of learning, they returned to campus and reflected on their experience, their growth, and how they've put lessons learned in the program into action.

Lorena Seu highlights the significance of culturally responsive curriculum to the vital role of family and community engagement for her work in American Samoa. One year into the OEL, she emphasizes the importance of learning from diverse perspectives and the impact of strategic leadership across different sectors.

David Thompson Jr. shares his journey of broadening his perspective on the impact of education one year into OEL. He reflects on the crucial role fostering a supportive network, and how it has helped him navigate challenging times and make important decisions.

Nedaa Alwawi reflects on her professional growth and the transformative impact of her experience one year into the OEL. She highlights the significance of the education ecosystem and the unexpected discoveries that have broadened her perspective as an educator and leader.
